Sorry Tim, this is Melody, because of busying prepare the midterm exam, and I had a headache these days, this letter is REALLY late.
For me, there's something weird about the "Cinco de Mayo" , why it do not celebrate in the whole country of Mexico, but it's celebrated in USA? I think there's no holiday we dance in Taiwan, Cinco de Mayo is like a parade, I would like to have a try with the holiday. The farmers from the surrounding are pretty powerful, especially they didn't have advanced weapons.
The Spring Event in Kangshan HS is similar to our chorus contest, both of us sing and dressed up in the uniform, but in Macau what they do is “poetry recital” .
Next Tuesday, Nini, Red, Selena, and I would have to represent the school to have a basketball tournament, from the previous letter you could know the girls in our class are the best players, hope we can glory for the school.
Dear Melody,
ReplyDeleteYou are going to represent your school in a basketball tournament? That in an honor, and I hope that you do well. Please let me know how it turns out.
You're right. Cinco de Mayo is a strange sort of holiday. Is it because Americans have a way of looking for any excuse for a party? Look at what we've done with St. Patrick's day, which was a very serious holy day in Ireland until the Americans made it into a festival.
I think that every school in Asia have some sort of "homeroom competition" some time in the Spring. I think it to take a little stress off the student by giving them something else to worry about.
